Non-filers will not get loan for solar panel

Non-filers in the Roshan Gharana scheme should forget about taking loans for solar panels, as the Punjab government has refused to provide loans to non-filers. The Punjab government’s energy department has set conditions requiring applicants to be filers to qualify for a solar panel loan. Additionally, it will be necessary for consumers to be active taxpayers.

According to sources within the Energy Department, borrowers will be required to be filers, but this condition will not be imposed on consumers using up to 200 units. However, for those consuming between 201 and 500 units, being a filer will be mandatory.

The Punjab Chief Minister approved the Roshan Gharana scheme in a special meeting. Under this scheme, consumers will now have the opportunity to install solar panels through bank financing.

Eligibility Criteria

Families in Punjab facing high power bills and an energy crisis can now register under the Punjab Government’s Solar Panel Scheme. To be eligible, families must meet the following criteria:

  • The family’s monthly income must be less than fifty thousand rupees.
  • The applicant’s family should not include any public servants.
  • The household’s electricity usage should not exceed 200 units per month.
  • The applicant’s lineage must originate from Punjab.
  • The applicant must hold a Pakistani identity card.
  • The applicant’s family must have no involvement in any unlawful activities.
  • The family should have no history of power theft.

Additionally, the Punjab government has devised a plan to support households that consume more than 200 units of power each month. Under this strategy, families using up to 200 units of power will receive complimentary solar systems. Families consuming between 201 and 500 units of power will be eligible for interest-free loans to purchase solar systems. Families using over 500 units of power will be eligible for interest-free loans covering up to 75% of the cost of solar systems from the Punjab government.

Registration Process

If you believe you satisfy all the requirements laid out by the government, you can quickly complete the registration process for a free solar system by sending an SMS from home. Follow these steps:

  1. Launch the SMS application on your mobile device.
  2. Compose a new SMS.
  3. Enter your identity card number and the reference number from your power bill into the SMS.
  4. Send the SMS to 8800.
  5. Ensure that the number you are using to send the SMS is registered in your name before sending it.

Once you’ve sent an SMS to complete the registration process, the Punjab government will begin reviewing your application. If the government determines—after the verification process—that you fulfill the requirements, you will receive an SMS notifying you of your eligibility. If you are eligible, the solar system installation process will begin once all the paperwork is completed.
