1200 Kisan Cards have been handed out in Attock District

Under the Punjab Chief Minister’s Agriculture Transformation Programme, more than 1,200 Kisan Cards have been distributed to farmers in the Attock district, signifying a significant advancement. This program aims to empower farmers and boost agricultural output by offering financial assistance and discounts on essential agricultural supplies. The goal is to hand out 27,122 Kisan Cards in the area, using a just selection method.

Event for Distributing Kisan Cards in Attock

A ceremony was held on Saturday at the agricultural office in Attock, during which over 1,200 Kisan Cards were handed out to local farmers. The event drew a large crowd of farmers, agricultural department officials, and prominent community members. Deputy Commissioner Rao Atif Raza, who was the guest of honor, delved into the potential of the Kisan Card initiative to increase the profitability of farmers.

The Government’s Dedication to Farmers

At the event, Deputy Commissioner Rao Atif Raza emphasized the government’s significant initiatives to aid farmers. He observed that the Kisan Card would allow farmers to obtain necessary agricultural supplies such as fertilizers, pesticides, and seeds at reduced prices. This project’s goal is to decrease expenses related to farming and increase the accessibility of modern agricultural methods.

Distribution Across Tehsils

The distribution of Kisan Cards is currently underway across six tehsils in Attock district. So far, the cards have been handed out in the following numbers:

  • Attock: 1,423 cards
  • Hazro: 906 cards
  • Hassanabdal: 1,041 cards
  • Fatehjang: 3,985 cards
  • Pindigheb: 2,107 cards
  • Jand: 2,635 cards

Special distribution centers have been established in each tehsil, ensuring a smooth and efficient process for farmers, complete with seating and necessary facilities.

Advantages of the Kisan Card

The Kisan Card provides several key benefits to farmers, primarily aimed at reducing production costs. Farmers can use the card to purchase essential inputs such as fertilizers, pesticides, and registered seeds for crops like wheat, cotton, pulses, and oilseeds at discounted rates. Moreover, the card offers low-interest loans for purchasing modern farming equipment and provides crop insurance to safeguard against losses.

Farmers owning land from 1 to 12.5 acres are advised to seek the Kisan Card. Farmers can also take advantage of solar tube wells and discounts on tractors in addition to subsidies on farming inputs from the program.

The government is speeding up the registration process so that more farmers can benefit from this transformative initiative.
